Veterinary Internships
Organising your veterinary internships can be a worrysome part of graduation.
Deciding which is right for you, is a decision only you can make. Make a list of your interests and which field you would like to go into. For example, do you wish to pursue private practice or research? If you chose practice, would you prefer large or small.
Where do your strengths lie, surgery? Medicine? Radiography?
I have heard many people advice not to apply at the university you graduated at.
There are also debates as to whether to go for private practice or university. Both have advantages and disadvantages, so you need to decide which is more important for you, the prestige of an internship at a university or the experience gained working in private practice, which may be more relevant to your future career.
Think about whether you are looking for research opportunities, as a university would be a better option for research.
There are hundreds of placements out there, but not all are on the internet, those which are may have extremely high competition.
Here is a list of what I have found so far by scanning the internet from many many sources, which at least saves you some time in that department.
Emergency
Equine
Small animal
Large animal
Surgery
Neurology
